Searching for the best affordable online Bachelor’s in Political Science degree options? Well, you’re in luck because Affordable Schools has ranked 40 great values below. Many online colleges offer cheap political science degree plans to teach about our government systems. Online political science courses are increasingly popular because of their flexible 24/7 schedule. In 2018, the U.S. News & World Report found online course enrollment rose rapidly by 7.3 percent. More than 56 million college students take at least one class online now. Since 2012, the number of post-secondary learners studying on-campus has dropped by 1 million! Distance learning gives political science majors the most freedom to design their curriculum, attend out-of-state schools, and keep working. EdTech Magazine found that six out of 10 online students have full-time employment. The majority of Web-based pupils are ages 25-29 or older. Non-traditional learners usually find online classrooms more convenient yet just as effective. Let’s explore affordable online political science degree programs that make mastering policy-making processes easier.
Our Methodology
As the 2020 Presidential Election nears, the AS Staff set out to locate the most cost-effective political science degree programs online for enthusiastic voters dedicated to democracy. We used the National Center for Education Statistics College Navigator to poll what’s available. Our team searched for Bachelor’s in Political Science at four-year institutions. We ticked the distance education box to ensure most major courses are online. Our next step was judging the affordability of our 50 online schools. We recorded the average in-state cost of full-time attendance in 2019. Please note out-of-state expenses were listed but not factored into our equation. The following rubric gave each economical political science degree online one to five points according to their yearly in-state prices.
Points:
Under $7,500: 5 Points
$7,500 to $15,000: 3 Points
$15,001 and Up: 1 Point
Then, Affordable Schools looked at engagement levels for each online best-value political science degree. Our team found their student-faculty ratios right in the NCES database. These ratios are a good indicator of average class sizes. Bigger numbers show there are more pupils in every course. Lower student-faculty ratios are especially important online to ensure teacher access. Online political science majors must be able to correspond quickly with faculty members. Professors juggling too many students might be slow to respond and impersonal. Small online political science cohorts can get to know one another better and participate in more stimulating policy debates. We awarded up to three points to top-value political science degree providers for student-faculty ratios.
Points:
10:1 or Less: 3 Points
11:1 to 15:1: 2 Points
Greater Than 15:1: 1 Point
Lastly, the AS Staff canvassed online affordable colleges for political science degree programs with good graduation rates. We drew this rate directly from the U.S. Department of Education. Graduation rates tell the percentage of undergrads who finish their studies within six years. Taking 72 or more months for a bachelor’s will cost considerably more. Transferring to another political science school can make you lose credits you’ve passed and paid for. Dropping out entirely could put many political careers out of reach. We don’t want you stuck with student loan debt and bad job prospects. That’s why we prioritized online universities with graduation rates of 50 percent or better. Our online schools were graded one to three more points based on student outcomes. We added the sums and ordered the 40 highest scorers as our best affordable online Bachelor’s in Political Science degree majors.
Points:
More than 50 Percent: 3 Points
Between 30 and 50 Percent: 2 Points
Less than 30 Percent: 1 Point
